Traditional Digital Photo Printing Fails to Reflect the True Quality of Digital Image
Conventional image-processing technology cannot produce printouts reflecting the original digital image. The problem aroused because while digital camera uses YCbCr format to store image data, the CRT monitor of a personal computer uses a narrower colour space - sRBG. When image data is transferred from DSC to a sRBG personal computer, the original colour data in YCbCr format will be uniformly compressed into an sRBG framework, resulting in the loss of colour information, especially in the natural blue-green colour range. Colours of the reproduced image and the original will therefore be very different when image data is transmitted to printer after PC processing.

PRINT Image Matching Technology Ensures the True Quality of Digital Photography
When an image is captured, the PRINT Image Matching-enabled digital camera will store the original gamma value, colour space and image adjustment parameters of the captured image into the JPEG File Header. No matter which model of DSCs is used, the same storage method would apply if the digital camera supports PRINT Image Matching technology. Meanwhile, when a digital image is transmitted to PCs, the original image data stored in YCbCr format will not be transformed into sRBG values in the PC, thus preventing any loss of data.
The originally captured image can also be modified by using EPSON PhotoQuicker 3.2, which is a PRINT Image Matching-compatible software for photo editing, then the photos can be printed by PRINT Image Matching-compatible ink jet printer as it can read the information of the Header in JPEG format. Finally, a faithful image reproduction of the original shot can be produced.
